Showcase reflection
The team which I felt presented the best was Team SFLR. In terms of presentation, I could feel their passion and energy for this project. They were able to engage and interact with the audience using catchphrases. All the team members had good voice projection. I was able to clearly hear what they said despite seating all the way at the back. In terms of content, they presented in layman terms which made it easier for me to understand. The use of relevant visuals such as photos and videos made it even clearer for me to grasp their research idea. Overall, despite Team SFLR being the last team, they did a good job in fully attracting the audience’s attention with their enthusiasm and voice projection.
However, I felt that it was a little too aggressive and they should present it more formally.
Overall, I felt that the showcase really pushed all the presenters out of their comfort zone. Before the showcase, all the presenters were practicing on their scripts and revising through. I felt very nervous about them and I can only imagine how they might be feeling. However, during the presentation, I felt that they all did really well. You could still see signs of nervousness at first but as the presentation goes on, they were calmer and more relaxed. I felt proud of all the teams that presented. If given an opportunity, I will wish to present to step out of my comfort zone and achieve my goal of being a more confident speaker.
All in all, I truly enjoyed this effective communications module and I will miss it. My key takeaways were learning how to reference and cite properly to standardized, how to speak more confidently and, how to structure my sentence correctly. These will all be useful for me for future projects in university and even when I go out to work. It has equipped me with the knowledge on how to communicate effectively through both my words and speech. I would like to thank Professor Brad for his guidance and not forgetting my team, Team Alps, for making effective communication a more enjoyable module :)
Thank you for this detailed critical evaluation of Team SLFR's presentation. I can see that watching was a valuable experoence for you. Also, I appreciate the kudos you give to me and your project group. All the best to you, Shannyn!
